www.felixyang.site is Felix Yang’s personal portfolio, writing and public knowledge index. Contact yljyang@ucdavis.edu with privacy questions. If you email me, your address and message are used to respond and continue that conversation. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
Core functions and local storage
The site uses localStorage, rather than advertising cookies, for felix-theme (theme), felix-motion (motion) and felix-privacy (version and two statistics choices). These remain in this browser until you change them, clear site data or your browser removes them.
Without a valid choice, optional statistics are off. There is no first-visit consent banner. Clearing preferences restores statistics to off and theme and motion to their defaults. When storage is unavailable, optional statistics stay off and settings explain that your choice cannot be saved.
Statistics you choose
Visit analytics and performance insights are separate, optional switches. The corresponding Vercel scripts initialize only after you enable them. Analytics helps understand page visits and referrals; performance insights helps assess loading, interactions and layout stability. These services may process page, device, browser and approximate region information.
Vercel describes these tools as cookieless; that does not mean no data is processed. This site adds no advertising tracking or personally identifying custom events, and strips query strings and fragments from page URLs before sending events. See the provider’s documentation below.
Hosting and external platforms
Vercel hosts the site. Delivering pages and maintaining security still requires processing network request information, such as IP addresses, request paths and technical logs, even with optional statistics off. Cookie Settings does not disable that core processing. Requests may be processed in different regions; this site does not promise that all data stays local.
Social icons and the academic Notion entry link to external platforms. QR images are served by this website. When you open another platform, its own privacy rules apply; disabling statistics here does not change that platform’s settings.
Changing or withdrawing your choice
Use Cookie Settings in the footer at any time. Choices synchronize across pages, languages and tabs in this browser. Turning off previously enabled statistics blocks subsequent events and reloads the current page to remove initialized scripts. It cannot retract data already sent.
Preferences do not sync across devices. If saving fails, this visit takes the protective action of disabling statistics, but the choice cannot be guaranteed to persist. Check storage permissions and save again. Contact the email above about data already processed or other privacy questions.
Updates
This notice describes the current implementation; it is not a guarantee of legal compliance in every jurisdiction. New data uses or services will be reflected here, with a new choice for additional optional purposes. The effective date appears above.
